[…] It's just, here's the point. Is it good to be without emotions or passions or desires, etc.? No. So what about the Stoics who want to completely divest man of wrath and other emotions? For they either pretend that they're not angry or avoid occasion for anger and association with men who could disturb them. So Luther says it's not really a lack of anger. They're just pretending. Or they say, well, here's what I'll do. I'll just put myself in a place where I never have a reason to get angry, never have to mess with people. I can withdraw into the wilderness.
