The Hyde Amendment prohibits the use of federal funds to pay for abortion, functionally Medicaid. And so Medicaid programs are jointly funded by state governments and federal governments. If you are in a state where the state government does not want to put money in to paying for Medicaid coverage of abortion, your abortion will not be covered, especially if you are low income. Most people who get abortions are people who cannot afford another child. […]
