[…] But sometimes in public health, addressing one problem is like pulling on a thread. one that begins to unravel much larger issues at play. Part two, supplementation at scale. Vitamin A supplementation was a cost-effective and life-saving intervention, but it was not easy. Supplements had to be administered in a capsule form to each child every four to six months. Finding the right dosage for the capsules to be sufficient without causing vitamin A toxicity, which is something we'll touch on later, was one hurdle. And then the ongoing logistics of reaching every child at least twice a year in hard to reach communities was another. […]
