Den Auftakt unserer Sommerfolgen macht die Keynote «Le rôle de l’Histoire dans l’analyse, la déconstruction et la lutte contre le racisme» von Izabel Barros, Doktorandin an der Universität Lausanne. Der Vortrag wurde am 27. März an der nationalen Konferenz «Rassismus und Hochschule» in Bern gehalten.Ausgehend von ihrer Forschung zu versklavten Frauen auf einer brasilianischen Plantage einer Berner Patrizierfamilie im 19. Jahrhundert zeigt Barros, weshalb die Auseinandersetzung mit Kolonialismus, Versklavung und der Beteiligung der Schweiz an kolonialen Verhältnissen zentral für das Verständnis von Rassismus heute ist. Indem sie versklavte Frauen als historische Subjekte sichtbar macht, eröffnet sie neue Perspektiven auf die Schweizer Geschichte und hinterfragt, welche Geschichten erinnert und welche ausgeblendet werden.Die Keynote zeigt, wie koloniale Kontinuitäten Wissensordnungen, Institutionen und Hochschulen prägen, und versteht Geschichte als Werkzeug antirassistischer, feministischer und dekolonialer Wissensproduktion.In dieser Folge geht es um: Die Verflechtungen der Schweiz mit Kolonialismus und Versklavung Versklavte Frauen als historische Subjekte Koloniale Kontinuitäten in Gesellschaft und Hochschulen Antirassistische, feministische und dekoloniale Wissensproduktion--------The opening episode of our summer series features the keynote «The Role of History in the Analysis, Deconstruction, and Struggle Against Racism» by Izabel Barros, a doctoral researcher at the University of Lausanne. The keynote was delivered on 27 March at the national conference «Racism and Higher Education» in Bern.Drawing on her research on enslaved women on a Brazilian plantation owned by a Bernese patrician family in the nineteenth century, Barros shows why engaging with colonialism, enslavement, and Switzerland’s involvement in colonial relations is crucial to understanding racism today. By foregrounding enslaved women as historical subjects, she offers new perspectives on Swiss history and questions which histories are remembered and which remain obscured.The keynote highlights how colonial continuities shape knowledge, institutions, and higher education, and presents history as a tool for anti-racist, feminist, and decolonial knowledge production.In this episode, we discuss: Switzerland’s entanglements with colonialism and enslavement Enslaved women as historical subjects Colonial continuities in society and higher education Anti-racist, feminist, and decolonial knowledge production--------Le premier épisode de notre série estivale est consacré à la keynote « Le rôle de l’Histoire dans l’analyse, la déconstruction et la lutte contre le racisme » d’Izabel Barros, doctorante à l’Université de Lausanne. Cette intervention a été présentée le 27 mars lors de la conférence nationale « Racisme et enseignement supérieur », à Berne.S’appuyant sur ses recherches sur les femmes réduites en esclavage dans une plantation brésilienne appartenant à une famille patricienne bernoise au XIXe siècle, Barros montre pourquoi l’étude du colonialisme, de l’esclavage et de l’implication de la Suisse dans les rapports coloniaux est essentielle pour comprendre le racisme aujourd’hui. Performing Diversity, Producing Knowledge: Macht und Wandel in (Kultur-)Institutionen

Und wie verhandeln sich Diversität, Wissen und Öffentlichkeit in einem zunehmend medialisierten Kontext? In dieser Folge von Missing Chapters spricht Anja Nunyola Glover mit Dr. phil.
