[…] Dihydroergotamine, though, that was compounded, gives us a synthetic version and weaker in the arterial constriction. It still ends up binding serotonin, noradrenergic receptors, and dopaminergic receptors. So we end up getting multiple target areas. sometimes that allows us to hit multiple targets can be a positive thing for some of our patients. And then we've also found that dihydroergotamine is helpful anywhere in the headache cycle, which makes it a unique molecule. It's got this faster onset time, but then gets metabolized slowly through the liver. So it has kind of this biphasic bioavailability. […]
