[…] In the days that followed Vicky's disappearance, search efforts would be hindered by heavy rainfall that moved into that area. Search and rescue workers said that the terrain around Alamogordo, New Mexico can be very dangerous, and the heavy rain was making it even more so. On many days, those searches had to be called off completely. And those searches were being conducted by professional search and rescue personnel, law enforcement, and even many locals who were coming out to volunteer.
