[…] You look under the bed. I'm looking at my girlfriend like, is she okay? And I just kind of had to throw cold water on my face and try to shake it off. And it made me afraid to fall back asleep because I'm like, I hope the dream doesn't continue. So there's that fear. And then if you have too many nightmares, too many nights in a row, then you're not sleeping. And then if you're not sleeping, that can lead us to start hallucinating or using other drugs to try to stay up so that we don't sleep or just to kind of alter our brain so hopefully we disrupt the nightmares that we had. So when we talk about nightmares, it also matters for suicide prevention because, as I mentioned, it can create three dangerous conditions. […]
