The Hidden Power of Breath

Hi everyone, and welcome back! It's been a little while, I know, but Project People Podcasts is back.

In this new episode, we're taking a deep dive into the world of breathwork.

Have you heard of it?

I first discovered breathwork when I met up with an old friend who told me it had completely transformed her life. She loved it so much that she decided to train as a facilitator and now teaches others this ancient practice.

Now, before you picture someone lying on a yoga mat taking a few slow, relaxing breaths... think again.

Breathwork can be surprisingly physical. At times, it can feel more like taking a spinning class than a meditation session, and its effects can be quite dramatic—both physically and emotionally.

So what exactly is breathwork? How does it work?

To help answer those questions, I'm joined by Maria Bordetas. Maria is a trained nurse who has also spent years exploring complementary and alternative therapies. Her own journey into breathwork began in a very unexpected and unconventional way, and she shares that story with us in this episode.

We also talk about the science behind breathwork, who it can help, and why it can have such a profound effect on both the body and the mind.

And I'll also tell you about my own experience of trying breathwork—and the very surprising effect it had on me.

So, wherever you're listening—whether that's YouTube, Spotify, or your favourite podcast app—settle in.

This is Project People Podcasts, Episode 22: The Hidden Power of Breathwork.
