[…] But here's the good news. Can estrogen in our skin be repleted? Well, some studies have shown that by using topical estrogen for six months on facial skin, that it improved hydration, elasticity, collagen, thickness, et cetera. Now, the studies are not huge and there have been some mixed results. But it makes sense to me that if our skin has estrogen receptors and we are no longer producing estrogen, we are going to see changes and perhaps supplementing that back end could be beneficial to our skin. So typically when we're talking about estrogen cream, we're talking about topical estradiol and we are using it in a very low dose, 0.01%, which is the dose that is used commonly for vulvar vaginal atrophy. in the general area.
