[…] So one is you kind of have this default two months notice period. And that's one of the acceptable options. That period can be shortened if there is a pre-existing clause in the tenancy agreement. And the thing is that there are a lot of ASTs that for one reason or another had those clauses in them. So a clause that might say something like when this tenancy goes periodic, you have to give one month's notice. And the purpose of that clause back then was to more or less formalise what a tenant's notice period had to be in a periodic contract. The thing is that now it applies to all of those contracts. […]
