4. Een Frans stokbrood
Tom Lanoye was voorbestemd om toneelauteur te worden. Moeder Josée speelt als amateuractrice in het lokale liefhebberstoneel, maar ook de slagerij van zijn ouders ervaart Tom als een vorm van theater. Eén van z’n eerste toneelteksten schrijft hij samen met Herman Brusselmans: De Canadese muur. 3. Een linkse fascist en een rechtse klootzak
Tom Lanoye is niet alleen een uitgesproken politieke schrijver, hij is ook polemist én activist. Dat politieke activisme loopt als een rode draad door al zijn werk: van de vlijmscherpe stand-up show Gespleten en bescheten tot in zijn recentste roman De draaischijf. Samen met zijn partner René Los is Tom ook altijd een voorvechter van homorechten geweest. Waar liggen de wortels van zijn politiek activisme? En zou Tom zelf een goede politicus zijn?
